Exercise your whole brain. Read graphic novels! We have many to give away. We will be reading Ducks: Two Years in the Oil Sands by Kate Beaton.
A young Kate Beaton finds work in the lucrative camps owned and operated by the world’s largest oil companies. Being one of the few women among thousands of men, the culture shock is palpable. It does not hit home until she moves to a spartan, isolated worksite for higher pay. She encounters the harsh reality of life in the oil sands where trauma is an everyday occurrence yet never discussed. Her wounds may never heal.
Books will be available at the Tucker-Reid H. Cofer Library three weeks prior to the program date. If the club fills up, we may need to share. If you’d like your book sent to a different branch or to join virtually, please contact Jason at beyerj@dekalblibrary.org.
Funding for some events at this branch provided in part by the Friends of the Tucker-Reid H. Cofer Library.
