Domestic Violence Awareness
Tuesday, June 16
12:00pm - 1:00pm
Stonecrest Library
Stonecrest Library Technology LabA workshop raising awareness of domestic violence, including warning signs, victim and family support, advocacy, safety resources, and perpetrator accountability, and community prevention efforts.
This workshop will provide Awareness and information on domestic violence, allowing participants to learn about warning signs, information about victims, their children, and perpetrators. Domestic violence affects every age group, every economic group and occurs more often that society realizes. Understanding this abuse allows friends and family members to safely offer comfort, understanding, and resources. Awareness can also lead to advocacy and a desire to improve laws, increase the number of shelters that provide safety, and encourage holding Dr. perpetrators accountable while offering treatment. Dr. Nancy Slater, presenter, is a survivor, volunteer and advocate for a domestic violence agency, whose research on intimate partner violence has inspired her to bring awareness to our community. She has a heart for victims and their children and recognizes the work that needs to be done to decrease and eliminate this violence in our lives.
