Preserving Family and Community History

Join Author Murray Browne and Archivist Tamika Strong as they present a three-part workshop on preserving family and community history.
Part one - A brief overview of the possibilities and potential pitfalls of writing personal and community histories, with topics such as print as compared to digital recordings; types of writing services such as Storybook; self-publishing pros, cons, and costs; and technologies and tools that can assist the researcher.
Part two - A look at genealogy-related approaches and databases and samples of questionnaires that you can use to gather information.
Part three - Closing comments and questions.
About the presenters:
Since retiring in 2019, Murray Browne has owned and operated Destination Books, a popup book stall in metro Atlanta. A Father's Letters is his third book. His website is murraybrowne.org.
Tamika Strong has spent more than 24 years serving Georgia’s citizens as a librarian and archivist. She currently serves as the Reference and Research Division Manager at the Auburn Avenue Research Library on African American Culture and History, a special library of the Fulton County Library System. With a passion for geneaology, she has presented several workshops to various groups and is active in several genealogy organizations. She also leads a monthly genealogy discussion group.
