Students in grades 9 to 12 are invited to create an original poem based on the theme "We Stand On Their Shoulders." Registration is open March 5-31, 2019.
The Tau Pi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Inc. will host a poetry competition and program in recognition of National Poetry Month.
Rules and Eligibility:
Students in grades 9 to 12 residing in DeKalb County, GA are eligible; must be an original poem based on the theme, We Stand On Their Shoulders. Maximum of 200 words, double-spaced, typed in Microsoft Word, Times Roman font, 12pt font size. Profanity is strongly discouraged. The deadline for submission is Sunday, March 31, 2019. Only electronic submissions are eligible. Send to thearts@akataupiomega.com. Include the following: name, school, grade, email address and telephone number. Finalists will be chosen by a selection committee and will present their poems at the Decatur Library, April 27, 2019, 2:00-4:00 p.m. Prizes will be awarded.
