From September 16 to October 14, community members of all ages are invited to contribute photographs -- taken with cell phones, digital cameras, or more sophisticated equipment -- of the moon.
The moon's appearance in the sky changes over the course of a month, and can be visible during the day and at night. On October 14, the moon will be in between the sun and the earth, casting a shadow on the earth's surface. In Atlanta, at 1:12 p.m., we will experience a partial solar eclipse.
Send your moon images to summerreading@dekalblibrary.org. Provide your name, your home branch location, your contact information, and we will post images on our Kids page. Everyone, young and old, who sends an image(s) will receive up to 4 pairs of eclipse glasses at their home branch with instructions on how to use them properly. You will receive the glasses whether we post the image or not.
